Hiking Tour in the High Tatras
Come and enjoy excellent hiking tours in this oldest national park with the highest peaks in Slovakia. Numerous marked tourist trails offer excellent hiking for beginners, more advanced hikers, and professional mountain climbers.
The main attractions are tours to the peaks while enjoying truly spectacular views, deep valleys, dwarf pines, more than 100 mountain lakes, and several waterfalls.
There are almost 30 peaks over 2500 meters AMSL. The highest peak is Gerlachovský štít, 2654 meters (8707 ft), the second-highest is Lomnický štít, 2634 meters (8641 ft), it is also possible to visit the top of this peak by cable car.
As the symbol of Slovak, mountains are considered spectacular Mt. Kriváň, 2494 meters (8182 ft).
National Park of Tatras is home to mountain goats, eagles, brown bears, lynxes, and wolves. Our guide will have a binocular, so with a little bit of luck, we might spot some animals in the distance. The group size is 4 to 8 people. We want to keep it as a Small Hiking Group.
Our Base Camp for all overnights is in Strbske Pleso – the highest located mountain resort with a mountain lake and breathtaking views. You will stay all overnights in the heart of the mountains.
This tour with Rysy peak and Krivan peak are only possible between 15 June until 1 November (due to the winter closure of the trails).
Equipment required: waterproof clothing, raincoat, trekking boots, backpack

DAY 1
WELCOME TO SLOVAKIA
We’ll pick you up from the airport and comfortable drive you to impressive High Tatra Mountains.
The comfortable drive takes 4 hours from Vienna Schwechat airport, Austria, 3 hrs 30min from Bratislava, Slovakia and 2 hours 15min from Krakow, Poland.
Relaxing walk around Strbske Pleso lake, welcome dinner & drink, itinerary introduction and start of your lovely hiking holiday.

DAY 2
POPRADSKE PLESO
We’ll start with a ‘a warm-up hike’ from Strbske Pleso to Popradske pleso, a glacial moraine lake (1,494m) where a mountain chalet Chata Pri Popradskom Plese is located.
Total hiking time: 3 hours

DAY 3
ZELENE PLESO – GREEN LAKE
Breakfast at 8am, briefing, departure at 8:45am, check out and drive to Stary Smokovec town. We’ll hike up to a mountain chalet Green Lake, located in the valley and surrouned by the Green Lake. The colour of the water is emerald green, it is picturesque and a true paradise for landscape photographers.

Level of difficulty: Easy to Moderate

Highest altitude: 1,550 m (5,085 ft)

DAY 4
TERYHO CHATA – TERY’S COTTAGE
Breakfast at 8am, briefing, departure at 8:45am and let’s hike up to Teryho chata, located in the upper part of the Small Cold Valley and surrounded by rocky peaks.
We’ll start from Stary Smokovec to Hrebienok, passing by Rainer’s little hut and Zamkovskeho chalet through beautiful valley up to Teryho chalet.
Enjoy the mountains and its views of the peaks and valleys.
Route: Stary Smokovec – Hrebienok -Rainer’s hut – Zamkovskeho chalet- follow green mark – Teryho chalet and back

Highest altitude: 2,015 m (6,610 ft)
Lowest altitude: 1,010 m (3,313 ft)

DAY 5
RYSY PEAK
Breakfast at 5:00am, briefing, departure at 5:45am and hike up to Chata pod Rysmi, the highest mountain chalet in the High Tatras, and then hike to Rysy, the most visited peak in the High Tatras, located on the border with Poland.
Route: Strbske Pleso – Popradske Pleso chalet – Zabie lakes – (chains!) – Chalet Rysy– up to Rysy peak
Total hiking time: 7hr 30min

Highest altitude: 2,503 m (8,198 ft)
Lowest altitude: 978 m (3,208 ft)

DAY 6
RELAXING DAY – SPISS CASTLE & AREA
Today, well-deserved relaxing day. Meeting at 9am, we’ll drive to Spisske Podhradie to visit the Spiss Castle located on a dolomite rock. It is one of the most precious cultural monuments in the Spis region and one of the largest castle ruins in Central Europe.
We’ll drive to charming medieval town Levoca, a cultural and historic jewel among Slovak towns. The highlight of Levoca is the Roman Catholic church of St. James from the 14th century with its largest wooden wing, late gothic altar in the world – the masterpiece from Master Paul of Levoca. Lunch break and drive back to the High Tatras.
On request, we can drive you to Vrbove thermal park or Aquacity Poprad for swimming and massage treatments

DAY 7
KRIVAN PEAK – SYMBOL OF SLOVAK MOUNTAINS
Breakfast at 5:00am, briefing and departure at 5:45am. We’ll hike to the top of Krivan peak, a symbol of Slovak mountains and a dominant peak of the High Tatras.
Did you know that there were gold mines under its top in the past?
Probably we will not find gold anymore, but no doubt, it’s one of the best hiking tours in Tatras.
Route: Strbske pleso – Razcestie pod Furkotskou dolinou – Jamske pleso – pod Krivanom – Krivan peak
Total hiking time: 7hrs 30min
