DAY 1

WELCOME TO BUDAPEST

Welcome drink and Welcome dinner. Your lovely holiday starts today.

Book with us an airport pick up service from Budapest airport and get the best possible price, travel in style with the highest comfort. How do we provide this service? We will wait for you at the airport’s arrival hall holding a sign with your name, help you with your luggage, drive you safely and comfortably to your hotel in Budapest and help with the check in process. DAY 2

BUDAPEST QUALITY SIGHTSEEING TOUR

We’ll start with the Quality Sightseeing Walking Tour with our local specialist. Impressive Buda Castle Hill – UNESCO World Heritage during the 15th century, under the rule of King Matthias, Buda became one of Europe’s most influential cities. Visit of Matthias church – the scene of a big coronation ceremony when emperor Franz Joseph and his wife Elizabeth (Sisi) were crowned, and thus the Austro-Hungarian Empire was established. Fishermen’s bastion – only 100 years old – a favorite lookout. In medieval times, the fish market was nearby and the bastion was built to commemorate the fishermen who protected this part of the city. Enjoy the stunning views on European 3rd largest Parliament. Lunch break on the Duna Corso, followed by the boat ride (1hr15min). Then, we’ll continue with Andrassy Boulevard and Hero’s square. Visit of the Heroes’ square – largest & most impressive – with its millennial monument was built in 1896 to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of the arrival of Hungarians in the Carpathian Basin. Iconic House of Parliament (outside) and liberty square.

DAY 3

BUDAPEST – ESZTERGOM – VISEGRAD – SZENTENDRE

We’ll discover the beautiful basilica in Esztergom, built in the 19th century according to St. Peter & Paul in Vatican. Esztergom which was historically an important town as it was the capital of Hungary until the 13th century. (the Celts, the Romans, the Slavs were here). The first Magyars came and settled here around the 10th century. Esztergom is the coronation town of the first Hungarian king Steven. Continue with Visegrad Castle to see the mighty fortress. After Esztergom it was Visegrad which became the capital of Hungary. It is also historically important place with a fortress. (an important meeting in 1991 was held here, so called meeting of the V4 countries – Czechia, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary, exactly on the same place where there was in the 14th century a meeting of Polish, Czech, Hungarian rulers). And the last visit of Szentendre, known for its Mediterranean vibes and Serbian history. It offers Baroque architecture, Hungarian folklore stores and lots of art, old and modern.

DAY 4

KESZTHELY – TIHANY – VESZPREM

We’ll enjoy the ‚Hungarian sea‘, the largest lake in Central Europe, Lake Balaton. First stop is in Keszthely (short walking tour), then, drive to Tihany and overnight in Veszprem, once home to Queen Gizella, the wife of the first Hungarian King Stephen I.

DAY 5

PECS – EUROPEAN CAPITAL OF CULTURE 2010

We’ll drive to Pecs, one of the best places to visit an off the beaten place while in Hungary. Start with a short walking tour to see the highlights such as Pecs Cathedral (to get the best views, it is possible to climb one of the four bell towers). We’ll enjoy the atmosphere of Szechenyi Square full of cafe’s and historic buildings in Art Nouveau style such as Town Hall and Mosque of Pasha Qasim (historically, it was built as a mosque during the Ottoman occupation, today, it is no longer a mosque and it is known as Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, see a 19th century Synagogue.

DAY 6

PECS – SZEGED – HORTOBAGY NATIONAL PARK

We’ll stop in Szeged, the 3rd largest Hungarian city and the centre of Southern Great Plain. Famous for its paprika and the Szekelygulyas, a goulash made with pork, sauerkraut and sour cream. Short walking tour, coffee and cake on Dom Ter, the city’s most beautiful square and drive to Hortobagy National Park – UNESCO to see the horse show.

DAY 7

TOKAI WINE REGION

We’ll drive to Tokaj, firstly visit the Museum of the World Heritage Wine Region then the Wine Tasting. Tokaj wine region is surrounded by Sator mountain, Kopasz mountain and the Tisza and Bodrog rivers while the vinyeards are located on exceptionally colorful volcanic rock formations.

Tokaj is a World Heritage Site and famous for its sweet white dessert wine, Tokaji Aszu. Drive to Eger.

DAY 8

EGER – GODOLLO

Morning walking tour through the square of Istvan Dobo, admire baroque Church of the Minorits, Turkish minaret (you can walk up to enjoy some views), Basilica of Eger and many more. If you like wine, try a special Egri Bikaver (special red wine called Bull’s blood). Then, visit of the Godollo palace – the one of the most important and largest monuments of Hungarian palace architecture. Visit of the palace and its gardens. Godollo palace was often visited by famous princess Elisabeth, nicknamed Sisi, the wife of the Austrian emperor Francis Joseph 1. Drive to Budapest and relaxing afternoon.
